NISSAN HAS BROUGHT IN SOME CLEVER DESIGN ELEMENTS THAT MADE AN ALREADY GOOD-LOOKING CAR EVEN MORE AGGRESSIVE. LARGE BOOMERANG HEADLAMPS AND WIDER GRILLE NOW DEFINE THE SUNNY’S FRONT. THE NEW BUMPER IS SPORTIER AND GETS LAVISH CHROME ACCENTS – I PARTICULARLY LIKED THE CHROME LINES AROUND THE FOG LAMPS. WHILE NEW ALLOY-WHEELS AND SIDE MIRROR TURN INDICATORS ARE THE KEY CHANGES IN PROFILE, A SPORTIER ANTENNA AND LARGE CHROME STRIP EMBLAZON THE REAR OF THE CAR. HOWEVER, THE BIGGEST CHANGE HERE IS THE OUTSTRETCHED BUMPER THAT GIVES THE CAR A STRONGER STANCE ON ROAD.

ALTHOUGH THE THEME OF THE CENTRE CONSOLE REMAINS MORE OR LESS THE SAME, IT IS NOW CLAD IN PIANO BLACK GLOSSY PLASTIC AND LOOKS REFRESHING. TOP VARIANTS EVEN GET A 5.1-INCH INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM AND BLUETOOTH TELEPHONY. USB PORT THAT DOUBLES UP AS A CHARGING STATION IS PLACED NEXT TO THE GLOVEBOX AND THERE’S A USEFUL CUBBY HOLDER WHERE YOU CAN KEEP YOUR GADGETS WHILE BEING CHARGED. THOUGH MINOR, CHANGES LIKE FAUX LEATHER SEATS AND SILVER-FINISHED GEARSTICK ADD TO THE PREMIUMNESS OF THE NEW SUNNY. REAR CABIN REMAINS UNCHANGED, WITH ACRES OF LEGROOM AND ADDED COMFORT OF THE RECIRCULATING FAN. DEPENDING ON VARIANT, SUNNY GETS KEYLESS ENTRY, PUSH START BUTTON, AUTO FOLDING MIRRORS ETC.

BOTH PETROL AND DIESEL ENGINES HAVE BEEN CARRIED OVER FROM THE PREVIOUS RANGE AND POWER OUTPUT REMAINS THE SAME, TOO. THE 1.5 LITRE PETROL ENGINE THAT DEVELOPS 99 PS OF POWER AND 134 NM OF TORQUE IS AVAILABLE WITH 5-SPEED MANUAL OR A CVT AUTO TRANSMISSION. CVT IS SMOOTH AND WELL BEHAVED, ESPECIALLY DURING STOP-AND-GO DRIVING. THE CVT GOES UP THE RANGE OF GEARS WITH ABSOLUTELY NO SHIFT SHOCKS AND THE OCCUPANTS ENJOY A VERY SMOOTH RIDE. THE TRANSMISSION IS ALSO AIDED BY A LOW GEAR SETTING AND ALSO A SPORT SETTING FOR A MORE ENGAGING DRIVE.
 
THE MORE POPULAR 1.5 LITRE DIESEL MILL HAS BEEN TWEAKED FOR BETTER FUEL EFFICIENCY BUT POWER OUTPUT REMAINS UNCHANGED AT 85 PS AND 200 NM OF TORQUE. STEERING PRECISION AND CORNERING STABILITY ARE NOT SUNNY’S FORTE, BUT AFTER ALL, THE CAR IS INTENDED FOR CUSTOMERS SEEKING A RELAXED ENVIRONMENT DURING THEIR COMMUTE.
